Robot Unicorn Attack. Unbelievable.

I know what you're thinking: Neal, reviewing a video game? And an online Flash game, at that? I can't believe it either. What makes it even stranger is this: on paper, I should hate this game. A robot unicorn in a floating world of rainbows and fairies attempts to make its wishes come true. (Exactly how that happens is unclear, but it involves running really fast, ramming into stars and eating sai... more. -

Dear readers, I have not yet written about a film that has also been a topic of discussion in our movie podcast, Cinema Death Blog, but after watching the film as a homework assignment for the podcast, I felt deeply compelled to share my thoughts with you. The Proposition (2005) is an incredible film experience crafted with intense beauty by director John Hillcoat and written by singer-songwrite... more. -
Avatar: The Quick and Dirty Review!!

I'm going to make this pretty simple folks! Ignore what some crabby reviewers and pessimistic movie goers may be saying and go straight to your nearest movie theater and see this movie! Avatar, directed by James Cameron, is a great movie! The visual effects look fantastic and the story has meaning for our modern era. In fact, I was rather moved by the story of a tribe of alien "natives" st... more. -

Hello Game Journal readers. I want to apologize for not writing any reviews or articles since before the Turkey Day holiday break. I have been rather lazy lately and, to be honest, I haven't been watching too many films that I think you would be interested in reading about, although I have been watching plenty of movies. Heck, that's all I do most days. Alas, I have finally seen a few things... more. -

Okay, I admit I might be a little bit behind the times here, but I just watched Max Payne the movie, starring Mark Wahlberg as the title character, and I felt compelled to write about it since this film blog is housed on a gamer lifestyle site! The film was released in theaters in 2008 and on DVD in January of 2009. Considering that it is now November 2009, chances are you already saw the film... more. -
HackMaster Basic Review (Table Top)

When reviewing any game or in this case piece of gaming literature, the reviewer has to ask him or herself whether or not they feel like the game in question can stand up to the test of time. This may not be an actual question per se, but just a sort of gut instinct one gets from a basic overview of the game in question. Unfortunately, my knee-jerk reaction to HackMaster Basic is “no.” Don... more. -
MTG: Zendikar Review (TCG)

I won’t lie; I haven’t made any secret of the fact that I’ve been generally displeased with the last few sets of Magic: The Gathering. I loved Conflux, but I felt that Shards of Alara had something to be desired, and I flat-out despised Alara Reborn due to (in my opinion) its divergence from everything that makes MTG good. I mean really, who really appreciated an entire SET of cards without... more. -
