For all you fans of the recently released video game Borderlands, I have a cinematic gem from the early 1980's that might help put you in the mood for blasting away some freaked-out crazies. Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983), directed by Lamont Johnson, is an interesting little sci-fi B-movie that just might capture your attention for the 90 minutes you watch it. I warn you ... more. -

Dear readers, I have not yet written about a film that has also been a topic of discussion in our movie podcast, Cinema Death Blog, but after watching the film as a homework assignment for the podcast, I felt deeply compelled to share my thoughts with you. The Proposition (2005) is an incredible film experience crafted with intense beauty by director John Hillcoat and written by singer-songwrite... more. -
Lights Out for Miramax: Cinema Death Blog Sheds a Tear

Yesterday, Miramax Film Corp. was shut down by Disney. The inevitable has happened, or so it seemed to the many people who thought the departure of founders Bob and Harvey Weinstein spelled the end of the company back in 2005. Miramax has hobbled along since then, but has not been able to maintain the shine it acquired under the Weinsteins. This is the company that brought us such iconic... more. -

So, have you seen or heard the news surrounding a little short film called Panic Attack (Ataque de Pánico)? I admit that I might be jumping on the bandwagon a bit later than most, but what's new there? My powers of observation seem to be dulled considerably lately when relating to anything nerdy, but this short film is a must see for the nerd in all of us. The word on the street is, Uragu... more. -

Hello Game Journal readers. I want to apologize for not writing any reviews or articles since before the Turkey Day holiday break. I have been rather lazy lately and, to be honest, I haven't been watching too many films that I think you would be interested in reading about, although I have been watching plenty of movies. Heck, that's all I do most days. Alas, I have finally seen a few things... more. -
Maniac Cop 1,2 and 3: Ash and Shaft vs. Killer Cop

In my never ending quest to catch up on movies from my youth that I missed the first time through, I have been plying my DVD player with exploitation films from the past thirty years and one of the most enjoyable guilty pleasures I have watched in a long time is the Maniac Cop series of films. All three were directed by William Lustig and written by Larry Cohen, exploitation and horror icons for ... more. -

Thank the gods for this movie! I have been desperately trying to write something about the films I've been watching lately, but they have been so horrible that I really don't know what to say, other than I've been watching some dreadful crap. Exploitation cinema can be fun, but sometimes it is just embarrassing and dull. That's the kind of film week I've had. So, it was with great pleasure that... more. -

I would like to apologize for not writing anything in a very long time. For those of you who read every word I write with baited breath, I will pay you soon. For everyone else who might read my amazing insight, I will get back into the game, pun intended, soon. I have finally gotten through my Lost marathon and can move onto something else, namely gaming. I have played two new games, new for... more.

The Machine Girl Vs. Son of Rambow

I've been watching some interesting, and not so interesting, movies lately and I thought I would tell you about two that I thought were worth mentioning. One was delightful and one was surprisingly dull. I spend a considerable portion of my time, when not playing games or writing for this site, watching movies. Roughly, I watch between 300 and 400 movies a year, every year! Which means I... more.

Warmachine Demo Challenge: Game 1 (Kevin)

Warmachine Demo #1 - vs. Kevin Neal: The two Warmachine armies I have represent polar opposites in style: Cryx is fast and fragile, while Khador is a slow, inexorable hammer. That makes for good, if lopsided, games where one side is looking for that one mistake or miscalculation from which the opponent can't recover. After the prerequisite instruction and explanation, Kevin chose Khador, so ... more.
