For it’s 15th birthday, the German edition of Settlers of Catan will come packaged with deluxe wooden pieces. Actually the entire game, excluding the box and instructions, will be made of wood. That means wooden tiles and wooden pieces (no word on wooden dice, though). That’s like 9857% more wood, or something.

We are rather excited about the new special edition. Nothing says classy like Catan and hunks of wood. However, for now it appears as if this cool edition will be for German players only. Kosmos, the European publisher of Catan, will release Die Siedler von Catan: Jubiläumsausgabe sometime in September 2010 for €60. Hopefully we’ll see the same enhancements over here in the States from Mayfair Games, but there has been no word as of yet.
