Ferelden is available for a gaming table near you. I was hesitant to post news or teasers about this over the past few months, because having seen licensed pen-and-paper role-playing games crash and burn in the past, I didn’t want to unnecessarily inflate hopes. (I didn’t even mention this to Adam, who’s a big fan of Dragon Age.)
But today the product materialized, at least in digital form: Green Ronin (of Mutants & Masterminds fame) are offering a PDF of the first boxed set of their Dragon Age RPG on their website; they also give you the PDF version free if you pre-order the print version. Go here to get your copy.
Early reviews indicate that the boxed set, first in a series, is friendly to new roleplayers, with a simple mechanical system and a framework that covers only levels 1-5; the rest will be expanded in future boxes. Fans of Bioware’s latest hit who have toyed with the idea of exploring tabletop RPGs may find this the perfect entry point.
