Well, Day 1 came and went. I left Pittsburgh around 6:30 AM today and arrived in Columbus at 11:15 AM. Instead of checking into the hotel, I decided to get a feel for the convention’s layout. I’m an Origins virgin, so I had to acclimate myself to the new environment if I wanted any hope of devising a gameplan for tackling the Con.
I walked around for a bit before checking into my hotel, and I have to say I wasn’t very impressed by the first day’s activities. I had read somewhere that the 5-Day format they’re using this year is rather new, but I didn’t expect it to be as bare as it was today. I have no doubts that the sparseness will quickly change, as tomorrow the main Exhibition Hall opens its doors to the public. Today just felt like they were still putting things together–which they were, indicated by all the staffers running around and moving boxes.
Ho-hum.
In any event, I didn’t get to see many games today. I watched some demos, but didn’t participate myself. That’s going to change tomorrow as I’m slated to sit down with over thirty games. I just hope I have enough time to make all my appointments. There’s a few I can probably break without much problem, but most of the items on my list are big ticket.
Needless to say, I had better get some sleep to prepare for tomorrow’s grind. Later!
