In discussions with my fellow editors/writers behind the scenes here at Game-Journal.com, a consensus has arisen that the site, as informative as it is, lacks some balance. Count up the number of articles on the site overall, and you’ll find a preponderance of video game material, followed rather leisurely by card gaming (i.e., Magic). My Table Talk column is a step towards balancing the site towards interest in all varieties of games, but more needs to be done.
Hence, a challenge to my peers in town: Reggie, Ben, Tony, Josh, Kevin, and boss-man Adam.
As some of them know already, I’m a Press Ganger for Privateer Press’s miniatures games Warmachine and Hordes. In a nutshell, that means I’m part of the street team and tournament organization apparatus for those games; as it turns out, I’m also involved with the current playtesting and editing of the revised ruleset forthcoming next year.
So, to my peers: you want more game? I’ll put my money where my mouth is — any of you who want to come to the table, I’ll put on a demo and teach you how to play; I’ll also photograph and write up each demo as an article for the site. But here’s the kicker:
Beat me fair and square, and I’ll buy you a starter set for whatever faction you want.
This deal is good for one month. Privateer’s motto isn’t “Play Like You’ve Got A Pair” for nothing. I’m putting this challenge on my blog to hold me accountable to it. What say you, fellow editors?

Who wants some metal?

I’m in. We might have to do this the first week in May, though. I’m thinking of taping the demonstration in one of many efforts to revamp the TV section. What do you think?

Absolutely. Seeing the game in action is the best way to get the feel. Want to say May 5, in hopes of getting it on the site in time for the May 7 podcast?

May 5th is great. I’ll mark it on the calendar. We can iron out the details within the coming weeks and advertise the event.

Kevin has given me verbal confirmation, but until he actually types it up, it’s not official.
