This is my first blog. Ever. I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of something inspiring and original and witty. You know something about meat or poop. I’m still not quite rolling with that caliber so I thought I’d start out with some sort of an Ode to Geekdom. A list of Odes to Geekdom to be precise. See I was listening to the new Stephen Lynch CD, and that got me thinking about his song titled “D & D”. Sure that song is probably making fun of us gamers, but in a way (like most great comedy) it’s also a tribute. So here, without any further ado, is my list of just a few great songs in honor of Geekitude.
– “D & D” by Stephen Lynch. I just mentioned it. Did you think I wouldn’t put it in here? Silly, silly reader.
– “In the Garage” by Weezer. Opening lines: “I’ve got a Dungeon Master’s Guide. I’ve got a twelve sided die. I’ve got Kitty Pryde and Nightcrawler, too.”
– Led Zeppelin IV (Zoso). Everyone at least once has listened to “Stairway” or “Battle of Evermore” or both at some point during a D & D session. If you haven’t, what’s wrong with you?
– Victory Music from Final Fantasy. So recognizable it actually works its way into our gaming sessions. Example: DM: Ok, you have slayed the final goblin. Player: Cue Final Fantasy victory music.
– “Fett’s Vette” by MC Chris. It’s the super awesome rap song from Zack and Miri. ”My backpack’s got jets. I’m Boba the Fett.”
I could probably keep going and try and think of some more, but I’m tired. Plus I’d rather hear from you all. Let me know what I’ve missed, or may not even know about.
Kiss that 20 side as we say good bye.

Hey now…Adam said we could write about whatever we wanted to in our editor’s blogs. It doesn’t have to be game-related! (I laughed a lot at your meat & poop references…)

White and Nerdy by Weird Al has to be on that list, sheer genius.
